Virtual Exhibition at the New Mexico Museum of Art

Shelby and other Santa Fe Indian Market artists were featured in a virtual exhibition curated by Jana Gottshalk at the New Mexico Museum of Art called Native Artists Respond to the Theme “Protection”

”Protection, a theme that is so relevant to us today, as it is everyday. The thought that comes to mind is the current epidemic, but as I sit longer with the word, I begin to think of my family, my friends, and the airbags in my car. In asking artists of Indian Market to respond to this theme, there were as many interpretations of the word as there are artists. The warrior, the protection of land, the missing and murdered indigenous women. It is a word associated with fear, but also with preservation, and strength. “
